BELARUS BUSINESS PRESENTATION

 

On the 20th of October 2004 at the Barbican Centre for Arts and Conferences the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland with support of the Confederation of British Industry, International Financial Services, London, and Belarusian Priorbank for the first time held a meeting for Belarusian and British businesses – presentation of business and investment opportunities in Belarus.

The event attracted considerable attention of British official establishment and business community. Officials from UK Trade and Investment, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, International Financial Services, London, representatives of rating agencies and financial institutions, a number of interested British companies and press took part in the event.

The Belarusian side was represented by First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy, Deputy Foreign Minister, representatives of Belarusian State Concerns (corporate groups of enterprises), Belarusian Industrialists' and Entrepreneurs' Confederation, banking circles, major exporters to the UK market – oil and gas processing manufacturers, one of the largest European manufacturers of metal billets, rods and wire, potassium fertiliser exporter, etc. A number of presentations by the Belarusian speakers are available for download.

British journal "The Banker" recognizes JSC "Priorbank" Belarus’ best bank in 2004

The bank’s press service informed that the title “The Bank of the Year” has been awarded to Priorbank for the second year in a row what speaks of its stable market position in Belarus and high profitability.

The title is awarded in different regions, countries and categories. Not qualitative aspects such as the total assets but also development of modern technical infrastructure, bank’s strategies are taken into consideration in awarding the title.

The press service also noted that Priorbank is the only banking institution in the country that has been awarded this title.

Priorbank was set up in 1989. In 2003 the Austrian Raiffeisen Bank Group became a shareholder of the bank, which charter fund’s share makes 61,3%. The second main shareholder of Priorbank is the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development. Priorbank has issued 224,000 plastic cards ranking first in the given sphere. It is the only bank in Belarus offering bank statements by e-mail and services on-line (account’s opening). More than 2,200 bank’s associates working in 60 subsidiaries serve about 467,000 clients including companies of the state sector, small and middle business, corporative clients and also individual entrepreneurs and natural persons.
